چکیده
Commercial and open-source CFD solvers rely mostly on incompressible approximate projection methods to overcome the pressure-velocity decoupling, such as SIMPLE (Patankar, 1980) or PISO (Issa, 1986) algorithm. Incompressible based Artificial Compressibility method (Chorin, 1967) lack a mechanism evolve in time need be supplemented by real derivative through dual scheme. The current study investigates implementation of explicit discretization into OpenFOAM extends that applying scheme FSAC-PP (Könözsy, 2012). Applied Couette 2D flow at Re=100 Re=1000, results show for both accurate evolutions velocity profiles are presented, where seemingly produces smoother compared AC method, especially during start-up simulation.

Numerical Solution of an Unsteady Flow Using Artificial Compressibility Method
The work presents an artificial compressibility method applied to incompressible Navier-Stokes equations for steady as well as for unsteady flows. Two modifications of unsteady numerical solution by an implicit finite volume method are considered. First one uses large artificial compressibility parameter and the iterative solution approximates unsteady evolution of flow. The second approach int...
متن کاملA Multigrid Accelerated High-order Compact Fractional-step Method for Unsteady Incompressible Viscous Flows
The objective of this study is the development of an efficient high-order compact scheme for unsteady incompressible viscous flows. The scheme is constructed on a staggered Cartesian grid system in order to avoid spurious oscillations in the pressure field. Navier-Stokes equations are advanced in time with the second order Adams-Bashford method without considering the pressure terms in the pred...
متن کاملA fractional step method based on a pressure Poisson equation for incompressible flows with variable density
A new fractional time technique for solving incompressible flows with variable density is proposed. The main feature of the method is that, as opposed to other known algorithms, the pressure is computed by solving a Poisson equation, which greatly reduces the computational cost. The method is proved to be stable and is numerically illustrated. To cite this article: J.-L. Guermond, A. Salgado, C...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Non-Newtonian Inelastic Flows in Channel based on Artificial Compressibility Method
In this study, inelastic constitutive modelling is considered for the simulation of shear-thinning fluids through a circular channel. Numerical solutions are presented for power-law inelastic model, considering axisymmetric Poiseuille flow through a channel. The numerical simulation of such fluid is performed by using the Galerkin finite element approach based on artificial compression method (...
متن کاملThree-dimensional characteristic approach for incompressible thermo-flows and influence of artificial compressibility parameter
In this paper the characteristics of unsteady three-dimensional incompressible flows with heat transfer are obtained along with artificial compressibility of Chorin. At first, compatibility equations and pseudo characteristics for three-dimensional flows are derived from five governing equations (continuity equation, Momentum equations in three directions, and energy equation) and then results ...
